Belief, The Entrepreneur’s Only Friend

No higher truth exists in business than this; until the moment you are viewed as a success you will be viewed as a failure, whatever that definition may be.  You must believe in your cause to make it a reality, because no one else will.  From the time you begin your journey until the very day you call it quits for good, you will live and die by this truth.

Belief is simply defined as confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof.  This is the most important thing in life if you plan to become an entrepreneur, because in the beginning it is the only thing you have.

In order to know what this really means you must assess yourself and see if you are an entrepreneur or a business owner.  An entrepreneur is always looking for and willing to exercise good ideas, whatever those ideas may be at the time.  They are creators of businesses, not the ones that run them for years and years.  A business owner is a version of an entrepreneur that can create and run the same business for 20 years.  Entrepreneurs think of great ideas and make them into businesses; only to hand them off to a business owner and pursue the next creation.

If you are an entrepreneur you must realize that you are exactly this, a creator of businesses.  You have to know your role.  The average entrepreneur turns over businesses every 2-3 years, which means that you must reinvent yourself and a business every 2-3 years.  Think about that, you will be a failure every 2-3 years because you have to start over again all the time, so your pay offs must make it worth the torture and torment.

Most of the free world works for someone else and has tasks handed to them in exchange for income, most of the time they receive the income even if they don’t complete the tasks.  They can exist in a bubble.  It is virtually impossible for an employee to understand the mentality of an entrepreneur, period.

That being said, know this; most of the free world will think you are out of your mind to venture out on your own.  The rest of the free world will also think you are a loser until you have made it to the top.  If you cannot stomach the pains of humiliation and heartache, don’t enter the game.

All good entrepreneurs have one common trait that makes them great, belief.  You must have full conviction in what you are doing and see the avenues to success.  If there is a slight ripple in your belief, you are done.

There will be times that your loved ones will look at you like you have lost your mind.  There will be times when your loved ones will ask you why you are putting yourself through this.

The truth is, until you have made real money and stood on your own two feet, you are a failure in this game.  Remember knowing when and how to take a punch is just as useful as knowing how to throw one.  In the end you must believe that you have what it takes to win the fight.
